Video: watch the Ultima Evolution, the UK's 1020bhp Veyron-beater, in action
950kg British sports car goes mad in the Peak District. Be afraid. Be very afraid
There are few ways to go face-meltingly fast for relatively little money than in an Ultima Evolution. This we already know.
But now the British sports car maker has released footage of its 1,020bhp ‘Evo’ beasting some of the Peak District’s finest roads.
Well, we say ‘beasting', but the curious thing is how gently it’s being driven considering this is a car capable of a Veyron-shaming 0-100mph-0 time of 8.8 seconds. Either the guy in the video has monk-like levels of restraint, or the hills were crawling with representatives of Her Majesty’s law-enforcement community.
For those in need of a recap, the Evolution comes with a choice of 15 power outputs from its Chevy-sourced 6.8-litre V8 – from 350bhp rising to a mighty 1,020bhp in full death-race trim. At 950kg it weighs half as much as a Bugatti Veyron, and at £95,995 costs roughly the same as one of the Bug’s wheels.
You want numbers? Ultima claims a top speed of 240mph, 0-60mph in 2.3 seconds, 0-100mph in 4.9 and 0-150mph in 8.9 terrifying seconds. And, don’t forget, all this is achieved with a good old-fashioned manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive and a complete lack of electronic safety nets.
May we suggest, Ultima, that for your next cinematic venture you find a long runway and a brave driver, point a camera at them and stand well back?
