This is the new W12-engined Bentley Flying Spur Speed

Bentley slaps some Speed badges on the Flying Spur. Power remains at 626bhp

Published: 06 Sep 2022

We’re not saying we’re disappointed that the new Bentley Flying Spur Speed only has 626bhp – that is a huge amount of horsepower after all – but it does mean that the Speed is no quicker than the standard W12-engined Flying Spur that was first unveiled back in 2019. Not entirely living up to its name, is it?

Although to be fair, a top whack of 207mph and a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds is not to be sniffed at, particularly for a four-door luxury limo. Maybe the moniker does work. Oh, and the ‘standard’ W12-engined Flying Spur was axed in May this year anyway (with sales of the V8 and V6 hybrid increasing) so the Speed is now the only way to bag a W12 if you don’t want to spend a not-so-small fortune on the top spec Mulliner model.

Looks fantastic, mind. We’re already big fans of the Flying Spur, and the Speed adds more black trim with a dark finish to the grilles, tinted lights and black exhaust tips. There’s Speed badging on the lower wings too, plus a unique 22-inch wheel and “jewelled fuel and oil filler caps”. Interesting.

In terms of hardware there’s the 6.0-litre twin turbo W12 (with Bentley saying that this will be one of the last models to feature the iconic engine) plus all-wheel steering and Bentley’s ‘Dynamic Ride’ as standard.

The interior gets a special Speed colourway with Dinamica used throughout the cabin for a sporty feel. There’s sports pedals too, plus plenty of Speed badges and new ‘performance infotainment graphics’ that are apparently inspired by luxury watches.
