James Bond's Aston Martin DB10 just sold for £2.4m

007's actual, one-of-ten DB10 sells at auction for charity. For a lot of money

Published: 18 Feb 2016

It was estimated to go for between £1m and £1.5m. In the end, and for charity, it went for a not insignificant £2,434,500. Yup, the actual Aston Martin DB10 driven by Daniel Craig - sorry, Bond - himself, just sold at auction.

It's the one from last year's 007 adventure Spectre, and it's the one of, well, one of ten built specifically for the film. Auction house Christie's sold the Aston tonight in London, with all proceeds going to charity.

The first DB10 made available for private ownership then, finds itself in some anonymous, lucky - and indeed minted - hands. It's built on a Vantage base, and boasts arguably one of the finest Aston Martin designs (that points to future Aston design) the company has ever knocked out. Salut, Marek Reichman.

There's a carbon-fibre body with a 4.7-litre V8 up front, a manual gearbox in the middle, rear-wheel-drive and the capacity to hit 190mph. More than enough to see off that pesky Jaguar C-X75 it goes toe-to-toe with in Spectre. We don't have to remind you that it's also a bona fide film star in its own right, and has borne the derriére of Mr Daniel Craig himself.

Aston boss Andy Palmer said: "The DB10 is one of the rarest cars ever created. Only 10 will ever be made and this is the only one that will be made available for sale. It’s great to see this DB10 raising vital funds for Médecins Sans Frontières, it is a fantastic charity that we are delighted to support."

The DB10 was the centrepiece in the Bond auction, which also saw a watch worn by Craig sell for £92,500, and his 'Day of the Dead' costume go for £98,500. In total, £2,785,500 was raised for charity.

A lot of money, but with just ten of these in the world, and with proper film kudos, surely it's worth it? Just look at it...
