Gallery: Airfix-style Aston DBR1

Airfix is, if James May's to be believed, good character-building stuff. And we're hard-pushed to argue when the model in question's a life-size Aston Martin DBR1 that looks precisely like the car Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori drove to victory in the 1959 Le Mans.

The really quite smashing kit is 20.8 feet long, 11.3 feet high and weights around 545kg. It's entirely hand built by Evanta (them that rebuild classic Astons) and includes an entire DBR1 bodyshell, upholstered seats, 16-inch wire wheels with knock-off hub nuts, a Mota Lita steering wheel, dashboard and cap signed by Shelby and Salvadori.

There's only one up for grabs, and it'll be auctioned off at this year's Goodwood Revival. Fancy it? Guide prices suggest it'll reach north of £20,000...
