Channel your inner James Bond with this 007-plate Cygnet
Because who wants a DB11 when you can have a James Bond numberplate?
Today marks 55 years since the very first James Bond film, Dr No, premiered. More recently, this 'James Bond day' - yes, it's a thing - has been celebrated with the release of the theme song for Skyfall by Adele, and the video for Sam Smith’s Bond song Writing’s On The Wall.
We know what you’re thinking – this is the perfect opportunity to fulfill your childhood dream and invest in a James Bond Aston Martin. We feel you. Any excuse.
But the Vantage? Nah. DB11? Old news. It’s all a bit of a cliché, if you ask us.
Why not do away with the self-destruct button and in-built champagne glasses and become the everyday James Bond with Aston’s entry-level spy mobile, the 1.33-litre Cygnet.
“Oh, but where is the glamour of Britain’s best ever spy?”, we hear you ask. Panic not. If you’re really after that 007 image, this particular example comes with its very own 007 number plate. Yes, really.
Included in the eye-watering £35,000 price tag – that Aston badge really paying its due here – is the personalised plate DO07 AMC. Double oh seven, Aston Martin Cygnet. Just in case you still had any doubt that the Bond girls would miss out on your cool factor.
It ticks the boxes if you’re after a piece of Aston history, too. The DVLA vehicle database shows just 154 Cygnets in the UK, making it rarer than both the DB5 and DB6. It’s not even in production anymore either – who spots a future money-making classic? Anyone?
We reckon the personalised plate alone could be worth the spend, though – a Guernsey resident got his hands on the number-only registration 007 in a recent auction for just under a quarter of a million pounds, while 3007 NO is up for over £6,000. Because nothing says cool like personalised numberplates.
So snap it up before Bond goes all suburbia on us.
