Hang on, is this Jack Daniel’s edition motorbike really a good idea?

Indian Motorcycle teams up with JD for this whiskey-infused special edition. No Coke in sight

Published: 10 Mar 2023

As brand tie-ups and special editions go, this one is a little strange. And yet, this is actually the seventh year in a row that Indian Motorcycle has teamed up with Jack Daniel's to celebrate bikes and whiskey. Just remember people – not at the same time.

Still, here’s what we’ve got from the partnership this year – the Jack Daniel's Limited Edition Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse. Long-winded name, but it certainly looks mean. It uses the same air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 engine (now there’s a name) and six-speed gearbox as the standard Chief Bobber Dark Horse, which means 120lb ft of torque and around 79bhp, although Indian itself admits that the engine is “easy to modify for power upgrades”.

It also gets the same simple steel tube frame, 4.0-inch touchscreen gauge and LED headlight, although you do get an additional Klock Werks flared wind deflector up front, a nice solo saddle seat and much JD-spec badging.

Speaking of badging, that one mounted on the engine is made by Western belt buckle and jewellery manufacturer Montana Silversmith and features a build number that’s unique to each of the 177 special editions.

And how about this for a touch? Each Jack Daniel's Edition is handpainted, and mixed in with the actual Super Graphite paint is a shot of Old No. 7 Whiskey. We promise we’re not making this up.

And so we come to the price. The limited run Indian will actually only cost you as much as a small round of JD and Cokes in a London bar. Yep, it’s $24,499.
