Behold: the most terrifying motorsport on-board you’ll ever watch

For those that are unfamiliar with the Isle of Man TT (or Tourist Trophy), it is essentially a time trial run around the island which passes through coastal, country and urban roads… public roads, we might add. And consider this: riders regularly exceed 200mph during some stretches, with lap averages plateauing at around 120mph.  

To put into context how utterly insane this would look and feel, footage has emerged of Davey Todd’s run. Todd rides for Milwaukee BMW, and decided to take everyone along for one of the most breathtaking rides you will ever witness.

The video begins with the 28-year-old exiting the pit lane while (satisfyingly) bouncing off the limiter, before he absolutely guns it straight through a quaint village. It’s also worth noting the spectators are standing mere inches away from the road. Nuts.

He hits a peak of around 180mph during this phase, and the sheer level of talent Todd possess is instantly clear as he gets to within millimetres of curbs and hedgerows before continuing through a series of country lanes.

At close to the three-minute mark, Todd even manages to catch some air… at 175mph. These first three minutes alone are enough to make you question the sanity of those who’d compete on their own accord.

Cling on for the next minute or so and you’ll see Todd exceed 300kph (186mph) several times, before being treated to his first overtake of the video. He dispatches the pass with ease, but what this segment does is put into perspective how tight the track actually is; a single bike turning at a slight angle reduces your overtake zone considerably.
