Here are nine of Hyundai’s greatest hits
Drift buses, SUVs, hot hatches and bonkers electric concepts - this South Korean powerhouse has got 'em all

Hyundai N Vision 74
If the N Vision 74 concept is a look at Hyundai’s future, then we can’t wait to get there. This bonkers one-off was unveiled in mid-2022 and was inspired by the Giugiaro-designed Pony concept from 1974. It features a 670bhp hybrid hydrogen powertrain.

Boo, another crossover. But wait, we rather like the Kona for its out-there looks, and the fact you can have it as a full electric vehicle or in N performance form with a 276bhp 2.0-litre turbo engine that makes loads of yobbish noise. The new one looks even cooler.
Hyundai i30N
Oh how we scoffed when Hyundai first announced its performance N division way back in 2014. We knew it meant business when we heard it had hired ex-BMW M whizz Albert Biermann, and then we drove the wonderful i30N for the first time...

Yes, it may be a humdrum crossover, but the sci-fi looks of the latest Tucson (now in its fourth generation) save it from being as dull as dishwater. And anyway, this was seventh on the list of bestselling cars in Britain in 2022, so someone likes it...
Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus
Hyundai Australia’s one-off Drift Bus from 2019 is our kind of concept car. It uses a crazy 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 motor that sends 402bhp to the rear wheels for maximum skids, but there’s still seating for eight inside the MPV known as the i800 in the UK market.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
Remarkably, the retrotastic Ioniq 5 didn’t actually change too much from its original concept car, the 2019 Hyundai 45 EV Concept shown at Frankfurt. It meant we got that boxy shape and those brilliant pixel lights with impressive electric performance to boot.
Hyundai i20 N
Given the success of the i30N, it was no surprise the smaller Ford Fiesta ST-rivalling i20N was brilliant when it finally arrived on our shores in 2021. Still brilliant today, in fact. We especially love how grown-up it feels compared with other sporting superminis.

Yes, Hyundai really did sell a car with two doors on one side and one on the other. We love Hyundai’s willingness to try some crazy ideas, but the UK market didn’t really buy into the Veloster and it was killed off after a few years. America loved it though – even got an N version.
Hyundai Stellar
The ingredients for the Eighties Stellar were all there. Design by Giugiaro, chassis from a MkV Ford Cortina and (in the updated Stellar II at least) a 2.0-litre Mitsubishi engine driving the rear wheels. It even picked up nervous Ford drivers who didn’t fancy the challenging looks of the 1982 Sierra.
