Yellow
We kick off in unlucky 13th position with a hue that suits the Acura NSX down to the ground. Data from Hagerty shows that in 2022, just 0.1 per cent of US new car buyers opted for yellow. Well done to brave souls that did.

A sliver of new cars came out of the factory wearing a very fancy shade of gold in 2022 – just 0.2 per cent.
Purple
Making Prince proud were the 0.3 per cent of cars sold in 2022 featuring this unique colour.

Hagerty’s data shows that 0.5 per cent of new cars sold in 2022 in the United States of America were beige. This is all we can say on the matter.
Orange
And of the 0.6 per cent of new US cars sold in 2022, we’d imagine at least one of the orange cars was a Lamborghini.
Green
Just 0.8 per cent of new US cars were in this colour, and we live in hope that one was an Alpina.
Brown
Top Gear heartily salutes the 0.9 per cent of brave souls who opted for this wonderfully Seventies hue. That’s a good 2022 for you.

Bet the owners of 2022’s red cars – making up 8.6 per cent of new US cars sold – are looking forward to 20 years’ time when the colour’s gone a bit orange.
Blue
The other best colour for a Ferrari – and that other small brand based out of Detroit, name escapes us for the moment – just under 10 per cent of buyers opted for blue in 2022.

Traditionally one of the original Big Three colours, as probably nobody has ever called them nor will do in the future, silver has, um, faded to fourth, with 12.1 per cent of US buyers opting for this formerly classic hue.
Grey
Just over 18 per cent of buyers went for the coolest of the New Big Three (whoops). Shorthand: grey RS6. Just sayin’.
And Hagerty UK price guide editor John Mayhead said: “Monochrome colours are all the rage across the USA with white, black and grey accounting for over 65 per cent of all new cars sold in 2022.”
Black
In second spot was Batman’s favoured hue, covering 22.3 per cent of new American cars. And indeed, some per cent of classic old American cars, like this restomod GT40.
White
According to Hagerty, 25.8 per cent of all new cars sold in the States were white. So here is a white Hummer EV. Merry Christmas!
