Architects of the world, rejoice: the last ever Saab is up for sale

This is it. This is the last ever Saab to leave the factory, and it is now being offered up for purchase via auction, meaning you have one last chance to resurface that roll-neck jumper you’ve been patiently storing away.

Electric car company NEVS – which recently announced a partnership with Koenigsegg – bought out Saab way back, and starting rebuilding 9-3 Aero models for a year between 2013 and 2014. Only 420 of these 9-3s were built, of which this is obviously one.

We’re told this silver 220bhp, 2.0-litre turbo car was set aside from the regular production line in order to undergo further development tests (back then there was still hope Saab production might resume), and was thus pretty much untouched. The tests however, never panned out, and all the other 419 cars were eventually sold onto customers.

This little piggy stayed at home, with only 40 miles on the clock, waiting for its day. And now its day has come. If you fancy bidding on the last Saab – and there surely must be someone with fondness for the old 9-3 – then Bilweb Auctions is the place to be.

The proceeds of the sale will be donated to NEVS’s sustainability mobility scholarship, which is a fund used to promote economy and smart mobility acceptance at the University West in Sweden.

“I’m pleased that the very last petrol-driven car from Saab will contribute to the transition to more sustainable transportation,” said NEVS vice president Stand Tilk.
