Alfa Romeo is set to launch an all-new 'dream' model on 30 August
This is all we’ve seen of the new car so far, but we’re already excited…
While presenting the lightly facelifted Giulia and Stelvio in China today, Alfa Romeo boss Jean-Philippe Imparato announced the date on which the Italian firm will unveil an all-new model.
For all you Alfa fans out there, said date is 30 August 2023, although right now we barely know anything about what will be hiding under the covers that day at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese.
Alfa is being properly secretive about this thing, but Imparato did give us a little hint: “This project is a dream come true, inspired by a daring team that wanted to achieve something unique.”
'Daring', 'unique' and 'a dream'. That certainly makes it sound like we should be excited, as does the fact that the reveal has been timed to take place in the same week as the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
But then again, Alfa has let slip that “the fact that the announcement was made in China is not a coincidence and confirms the focus on this geographic area and the brand's ambition to reach the target of 40 per cent of sales outside Europe.” Hmm.
But wait, there’s one more morsel of information that we’ve managed to extract from Alfa so far. The secretive project is currently being referred to as ‘Specialty’, although if you translate that to Italian of course it sounds far better. The new Alfa Romeo Specialità anyone?
