100 Rollers drive through London
The Spirit of Ecstasy is 100 years old.
That graceful goddess who has eternally planted her metally derriere on the bonnet of Rolls-Royce models celebrates a century of existence, having first been slapped on a Roller on 6 February 1911. And, funny thing, it was originally intended to prevent post-Victorian era modders from ruining their cars with their own homemade creations.
The drive kicked off in Belgravia and ended at the Great Consevatory at Syon House in west London, taking in Big Ben, Trafalger Square, Picadilly Circus and Hill Street, Mayfair - the birthplace of Charles Rolls.
