10 used small cars for £3k we found this week
Some top supermini picks from the week's classifieds
Ford Fiesta
Earlier this year, production of this classic supermini came to a tearjerking end, but thankfully there’s still some real gems out there, like this 1998 example with only 68k on the clock.

The Seat Ibiza has always faced stiff competition from other brands within the VW family, but it makes a great little city car. Now Cupra is where Seat is focussing, you could bag yourself a future classic (maybe) with this one.
Citroen C3
Revel in the C3's more sedate attitude to life, and this 2011 model's great price, super low mileage and 1.4-litre, ULEZ-compliant petrol engine.

The general reliability of the badge means opting for a secondhand Polo is a smart choice. Though this 1993 collectible made us go back for a second look, here's a younger, low-mileage 1.4-litre model.
Mini Convertible
This well-specced 2004 Mini Convertible is just a smidge under £3k and with its Euro 4 petrol engine meets ULEZ criteria for cost-effective urban motoring. Just don't mention 'go-kart' handling, mmkay?
Dacia Sandero
The Dacia Sandero is a ‘does-what-it-says-on-the-tin’ type of a deal. It’s simple, it’s spacious and smart-looking. On the secondhand market, this 2013 example is a great price for a decade-old car.
Audi A1
Aimed deliberately at young city dwellers, the Audi A1 was the brand’s answer to the Mini. It’s an easy way to get into Audi ownership and the fact the A1 Mk2 is the last (at least until some all-electric successor arrives) means any secondhand purchase, such as this 2010 listing, could be a worthwhile investment. Probably.

The Vauxhall Corsa is another long-standing best-selling supermini. This ULEZ-friendly 1.6-litre Turbo VXR comes in at a really great price. It's got a decent spec and has also been upgraded with a Kenwood head unit. Perfect to drown out the nagging feeling you should have saved up for a Nürburgring edition instead.

Toyota Yaris
The Toyota Yaris has a long had a reputation for great fuel economy (be still thine beating heart!), due to its mild hybrid system coupled with a diddy 1.3-litre engine. While it doesn't offer the wildest drive, low running costs keep it popular. This 2012 one in white is a lower price than usual too.

Despite being the car that was famously cheaper than its VW Group stablemates, finding a Fabia under £3k is tricky. However, here's a super low mileage 2002 Skoda Fabia, admittedly in great condition for a Mk1. Future classic? We couldn’t say.
