Tanner Foust news - These Top Gear US boys sure can drive… - 2011

Published: 19 Apr 2011

The moment James May broke the production car land speed record last year in a Bugatti Supersport has clearly upped the competitive driving stakes among our global Top Gear presenters.

Take Tanner Foust, our colleague from Top Gear US. He spent the weekend in a rally-prepped Rockstar Ford Fiesta, flying over 70 foot jumps to take first place in round two of the Global Rallycross series in Washington. Oh, and he had a dislocated shoulder. And he finished ahead of a field that included four-time Swedish Rally champion Andreas Eriksson.

Not bad... We'll just leave this video here so you can enjoy the highlights:

"There was a point in the second to last lap where I felt the shoulder pop, but the EMT people did a wonderful job taping the tar out of it and I could barely move it and I think that is what needed to happen to keep it in. Yes, there's a lot of adrenaline in this sport. Wow, what a race," said Tanner afterwards.

If you're over in the US and fancy catching the next round, it's at Pikes Peak in Fountain, Colorado on June 17-18.

Tanner and the rest of the Top Gear US team will be back on the History Channel later this year - we'll bring you all the details here on TopGear.com as we get them...
