Following a bruising few weeks in the spotlight – and with further scrutiny expected – bosses have instead decided to spend the entirety of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix hiding in a massive, chilled drinks container.

Despite the optics of such a move immediately after a string of explosive allegations that have rocked the world championship-winning team, sources have added that employees were already clamouring for the best spot in the fridge, though nobody has told Sergio Perez of the daring new strategy.

“It’s just really hot outside, nothing more,” a Red Bull official said. “Hydration is, like, super important for us, so we figured the best way was to be as close as possible to all the drinks. Which just happens to be in a giant, Red Bull-branded fridge.

“Plus, keeping Max in the fridge for a weekend means everyone else gets to play at winning for a change,” the official added, “and even with an entire Formula One team hiding out for perfectly normal reasons inside a giant fridge, we calculate we’ll still be quicker than Alpine.”

Paddock sources claim all of the other teams were frantically working around the clock to copy the design of the giant fridge in a bid to catch up to Red Bull, although Ferrari accidentally locked Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz inside an ice box.

Despite going purple in every sector of his body, Leclerc later reported over team radio: “Guyths I habth no gip in here.”
