Travis Pastrana news - Pastrana sets Mt Washington rally ‘record’- 2010

Published: 27 Sep 2010

You may not have heard of Travis Pastrana, and so we've collated some Facts for you to chew on.

Fact 1: He is a four-time Rally America champion, and a two-time motocross champion.

Fact 2: He set a world record in January when he jumped his rally car 269ft from California's Pine Street Pier onto a floating barge below.

Fact 3: At 14 years old, he separated his spine from his pelvis in a horrific freestyle motocross accident.

That's a good starting point. He's also friends with Ken Block, once beat Colin McRae, and even appears in some computer games. Earlier this month, in a stunt for Red Bull and Vermont Sportscar, he piloted a rally-prepped Subaru Impreza WRX STI up Mt Washington in 6m 20.47s - beating Frank Spongl's Audi Quattro time of 6m 41.99s.

Of course, Pastrana's run was unofficial, and in a car MASSIVELY more advanced than the old Quattro. But whatever, the video is amazing. And it's a miserable day outside. And it's Monday. And you've probably got work to do, so...

Stop what you're doing and indulge yourself for seven minutes. Think you've got skills?
