It’s the new McLaren 625C!
This is not a new McLaren, but a tweaked one built for the Asian market. Extra power and extra fastness, you would presume?
Wrong. It's called the McLaren 625C, and is a less powerful version of the 650S. As the name suggests, there are 625 somethings; in this case, 625 PS, equating to some 616bhp. That's less than we get in Europe with our 641bhp.
Then there's the rejigged chassis. There are new dampers, a revised mechanical balance which includes softened spring rates at the rear, making it the most "refined ride of any McLaren model to date". Slightly softer, then.
That said, it's no slouch. Both Coupe and Spider will from from 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds (one tenth off the 650S), the former topping out at 207mph, the latter at 204mph. Quarter miles times? 10.6s for the Coupe, 10.8s for the Spider. Not much in it, really.
The 625C will initially be launched in Hong Kong, followed by selected markets in the Asia Pacific region shortly after.
So, people of Asia, how do you like this slightly softer, less powerful McLaren 625C?
