Dakar's rest day is an excuse to build Audi's awesome Dakar Lego car

Given that one Dakar Rally is the equivalent of competing in 13 Daytona 500s, by the time it gets to the halfway point, you’re more than ready for a break. Luckily, the two-week non-stop rally has one rest day thrown in. But it’s not really a rest day at all.

On Saturday’s so-called 'rest day', all three of Audi’s RS Q e-trons are stripped down and rebuilt by the dedicated team of mechanics. That includes the complex drivetrains, dampers and the vast array of ancillaries. Once everything has been put back together again, what you’re left with at the end is, basically, a new car ready for another week of torturous racing. It needs to be, as this year’s drivers are heading into a wave of arduous, potentially car-killing stages until the end of the race in Yanbu on January 19^th.
